Now THAT'S torture!

On October 26, 1967, John McCain was flying as part of a 20-plane attack... McCain's A-4 Skyhawk had its wing blown off by a Soviet-made anti-aircraft missile. McCain fractured both arms and a leg in being hit and ejecting from his plane.

He nearly drowned after he parachuted into Truc Bach Lake in Hanoi. After he regained consciousness, a mob gathered around, spat on him, kicked him, and stripped him of his clothes. Others crushed his shoulder with the butt of a rifle and bayoneted him in his left foot and abdominal area; he was then transported to Hanoi's main Hoa Loa Prison, nicknamed the "Hanoi Hilton" by American POWs.

McCain was sent to a prisoner-of-war camp on the outskirts of Hanoi in December 1967, into a cell with two other Americans who did not expect him to live a week; they nursed McCain and kept him alive. In March 1968, McCain was put into solitary confinement, where he would remain for two years.

In July 1968, McCain's father was named commander of all U.S. forces in the Vietnam theater. McCain was immediately offered a chance to return home early: the North Vietnamese wanted a worldwide propaganda coup by appearing merciful, and also wanted to show other POWs that elites like McCain were willing to be treated preferentially.

McCain turned down the offer of repatriation, due to the Code of Conduct principle of "first in, first out": he would only accept the offer if every man taken in before him was released as well
.

In August of 1968, a program of vigorous torture methods began on McCain, using rope bindings into painful positions, and beatings every two hours, at the same time as he was suffering from dysentery. Teeth and bones were broken again...

His injuries to this day have left him incapable of raising his arms above his head. Two weeks later his captors tried to force him to sign a second statement, and this time, his will to resist restored, he refused. He received two to three beatings per week because of his continued refusal...

McCain refused to meet with various anti-war peace groups coming to Hanoi, not wanting to give either them or the North Vietnamese a propaganda victory based on his connection to his father...

In December 1969, McCain was transferred back to the Hoa Loa "Hanoi Hilton"; his solitary confinement ended in March 1970. McCain continued to refuse to see anti-war groups or journalists sympathetic to the North Vietnamese regime...

McCain was finally released from captivity on March 15, 1973, having been a POW for almost an extra five years due to his refusal to accept the out-of-sequence repatriation offer.

Contrast McCain's treatment over five years with pouring water on a terrorist's face for a few minutes to get information that could save thousands of lives. THEN GET THE WORD OUT AND STAND UP to the enemy within, the looney far left elitists who loudly criticize those who are protecting us, saying that our military, CIA, etc. are somehow taking away the civil rights of Americans!

Waterboarding is NOT torture. Terrorists walk away from waterboarding with no bruises, no blood spilt, no broken bones or teeth, not even limping or feeling pain. And it's all over in a few minutes!

Now THAT'S moral authority!

Our House servants walked out this weekend and took a long paid vacation, knowing that an essential tool to protect Americans would expire the day after they deserted their post in a time of war.

It's baffling to me how some Americans will not stand up and defend themselves, their families, or fellow Americans. They prefer instead to criticize those who are putting themselves in harm's way to keep our nation free. They seem to think they are on higher ground because they lockstep to arrogant left wing elitist phrases like "moral authority."

"Moral authority" is just a politically-charged phrase, words that symbolize an attitude or opinion held by "intellectual" elitists, UN lovers, and their fawning fellow travelers.

In contrast, deliberately crashing airplanes into buildings filled with thousands of innocent men, women, and children, and slashing throats and burning people alive are REAL!

The Islamo fascist terrorists are sworn to kill Americans everywhere, and to thrust the world back into the dark ages.

Where's THEIR "moral authority"? What right do THEY have to torture and kill in the name of their god or prophet, or the innocent virgins anxiously waiting for these murderous souls to arrive in heaven?

Waterboarding is NOT torture! Terrorists walk away with no bruises, no blood spilt, no broken bones or teeth, not even limping or feeling pain. Real torture is something that is done for punishment or for the pleasure of the torturer. Ask any of our prisoners of war, they can tell you what real torture is.

And even if it was torture, the grossest torture, it's much more moral if one murdering terrorist is tortured and thus reveals information that saves even one innocent life.

Our President would be acting IMMORALLY if he did not uphold his sworn duty to protect the American people from international enemies regardless of political pressure from the extreme left.

If it wasn't for the brave Americans who are willing to stand up to the terrorists, the muddled elitists too would be dead or forever stilled from uttering or writing another word of "moral" protest.

We must FIGHT for our freedoms! The alternative is death, or a living hell.

President Bush and those who work with him kept us safe from terrorism in our homeland for seven years.

Now THAT'S moral authority!

Suicide bombers in our malls?

America is at a cross roads and the stakes are high, maybe even our lives.

Everyone wants peace. But many Democrats don't seem to even acknowledge that we are at war with a brutal enemy that wants to destroy our freedoms and thrust the world back into the dark ages.

Clinton and Obama threaten to pull our troops away from foreign lands. That would almost certainly result in the fight focusing on our own homeland. Have the Democratic presidential wannabees already forgotten the 3,000 Americans killed by terrorists in New York City? A retreating military and a weak commander-in-chief pressed by socialist Berkeley/ACLU/MoveOn  cells would embolden our enemies and encourage suicide bombers in our own malls.

Like it or not John McCain is the person the GOP has to work with this season. Huckabee and Paul are only delaying the inevitable and demonstrating their lack of party loyalty, and complete lack of statesmanship in a time of war. If they'd follow Romney's example and pull out immediately, the GOP could gear up early for the political fight of our lives.

If McCain picked Romney for his running mate it would appease most conservatives and talk show hosts (maybe not Ann Coulter :-) and unite the GOP. It could defuse concerns that McCain is weak on the economy, and that he's too old.

Maybe John McCain really is the best choice for this season after all.

At least he has proven his mettle during times of war...

Bashing the Mormons

When Mitt Romney's campaign was in full swing posts 'exposing' the Mormons clogged campaign blogs and comments.  Anti-Mormon messages morphed out of nowhere like mushrooms after a rain storm. LDS authorities seemed astonished at the intensity of the criticism.

Was Romney's campaign affected by Mormon bashing in the media and on the web? Romney's a Mormon, everyone knows that. What's the real truth about the Mormons anyway?

Did the writers of those anti-Mormon posts believe that elections should be swayed by which church a presidential candidate attends? Or were they zealously trying to win converts for their own church by attacking the beliefs of others?

In America, with the exception of Jews and Muslims it's probably true that most god-fearing citizens, including the Mormons, believe that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior. And they believe so strongly that they would rather die than deny that belief!

Grassroots people living the way Jesus taught are the real strength of America - if their good works are not infrequent and hidden under a bushel.

But in political blogs shouldn't we be discussing who is best qualified for the highest TEMPORAL office in the nation - instead of who would make the best pastor or bishop, or which church is right?

Disagreements about points of religious doctrine will probably always exist as long as there are humans on this planet. Such discussion more properly belongs on 'apologetic' sites such as FAIR  http://www.fairlds.org  and others that seek to address misunderstandings about their own doctrinal beliefs rather than to attack the beliefs of other Americans.

I think it's best to leave to the terrorists the attempt to force others to believe one's own way. It's the terrorists who are trying to force Americans to live under one state religion - theirs!

It seems obvious that the official media of any church is the best qualified source of information about that church's beliefs and practices. Why should anyone look to the Baptists or Catholics to learn the truth about the Mormons - or vice versa?

Here's a quote from the Mormon's canonical Articles of Faith:

"We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may."

That doesn't seem like much of a threat to me...

For those who think their pastors should be focusing on teaching them more about their own church's doctrine, and how to live kinder, happier, service-oriented Christ-filled lives, instead of bashing the members of other churches, the real truth about the Mormons is publicly exposed online, at their own official websites.

Once the truth about the Mormons is widely known, zealous members of other churches may never again so blindly follow the urgings of biased pastors to publicly bash the beliefs of others.

Maybe then there'd be peace among the god-fearing. And America would be a city on a hill beckoning brightly to all who love freedom and the right to choose who to worship and when.

Still pulsing for Romney.

It's true that there wasn't a lot of love lost between John McCain and Mitt Romney along the campaign trail.

It's also true that Romney gained a whole lot of national name recognition during the campaign, that he has tremendous resources, and that he is far superior to McCain when it comes to experience with the economy and free enterprise, the inner workings of America.

It's interesting too that the CPAC straw vote came out strongly for Romney even after he had suspended his campaign.

It seems that
the heart of the Grand Old Party still pulses for Romney!

I believe that if McCain would very soon announce Mitt Romney as his running mate that the GOP would rally and pitch in to win the November election.

Doing what's right for America.

Mitt Romney did the noble thing by suspending his campaign - for his party and for America.

Here is what he said at CPAC:

"If I fight on in my campaign all the way to the convention I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win. And in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror.

"This is not an easy decision for me. I hate to lose. My family, my friends and our supporters – many of you right here in this room – have given a great deal to get me where I have a shot at becoming President. If this were only about me, I would go on. But I entered this race because I love America, and because I love America, I feel I must now stand aside, for our party and for our country."

Now if there was only enough statesmanship in Huckabee and Paul we'd lick our wounds and get to work right away to make sure the next president is a Republican.

Mitt Romney remains my choice. I still think Dr. Romney is much better prepared to take on the Democrats and be leader of the free world.

I think if McCain would make Romney his running mate very soon that would be a party uniter and a winning ticket in November.

Romney's Speech at CPAC.

Thursday, Feb 07, 2008

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONTACT:
Kevin Madden (857) 288-6390

Washington, D.C. –

Today, addressing the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Governor Romney announced that he was suspending his presidential campaign for the sake of Republican unity and the future of our country.

In 2008, Republicans must stand united if we are to prevent Senators Clinton and Obama from taking the White House. As a nation at war and facing uncertain economic times, the American people cannot afford the Democrats and their agenda for retreat and economic slowdown.

With today's speech, Governor Romney outlined the significance of this election and the need for the Republican Party to remain strong.

Governor Romney's Address To CPAC (As Prepared For Delivery):

"I want to begin by saying thank you. It's great to be with you again. And I look forward to joining with you many more times in the future.

"Last year, CPAC gave me the sendoff I needed. I was in single digits in the polls, and I was facing household Republican names. As of today, more than 4 million people have given me their vote for President, less than Senator McCain's 4.7 million, but quite a statement nonetheless. Eleven states have given me their nod, compared to his 13. Of course, because size does matter, he's doing quite a bit better with his number of delegates.

"To all of you, thank you for caring enough about the future of America to show up, stand up and speak up for conservative principles.

"As I said to you last year, conservative principles are needed now more than ever. We face a new generation of challenges, challenges which threaten our prosperity, our security and our future. I am convinced that unless America changes course, we will become the France of the 21st century – still a great nation, but no longer the leader of the world, no longer the superpower.

And to me, that is unthinkable. Simon Peres, in a visit to Boston, was asked what he thought about the war in Iraq. 'First,' he said, 'I must put something in context. America is unique in the history of the world. In the history of the world, whenever there has been conflict, the nation that wins takes land from the nation that loses.

One nation in history, and this during the last century, laid down hundreds of thousands of lives and took no land. No land from Germany, no land from Japan, no land from Korea. America is unique in the sacrifice it has made for liberty, for itself and for freedom loving people around the world.'

The best ally peace has ever known, and will ever know, is a strong America.

"And that is why we must rise to the occasion, as we have always done before, to confront the challenges ahead. Perhaps the most fundamental of these is the attack on the American culture.

"Over the years, my business has taken me to many countries. I have been struck by the enormous differences in the wealth and well-being of people of different nations. I have read a number of scholarly explanations for the disparities. I found the most convincing was that written by David Landes, a professor emeritus from Harvard University. I presume he's a liberal – I guess that's redundant. His work traces the coming and going of great civilizations throughout history. After hundreds of pages of analysis, he concludes with this:

"If we learn anything from the history of economic development, it is that culture makes all the difference. Culture makes all the difference.

"What is it about American culture that has led us to become the most powerful nation in the history of the world? We believe in hard work and education. We love opportunity: almost all of us are immigrants or descendants of immigrants who came here for opportunity – opportunity is in our DNA.

Americans love God, and those who don't have faith, typically believe in something greater than themselves – a 'Purpose Driven Life.' And we sacrifice everything we have, even our lives, for our families, our freedoms and our country. The values and beliefs of the free American people are the source of our nation's strength and they always will be.

"The threat to our culture comes from within. The 1960's welfare programs created a culture of poverty. Some think we won that battle when we reformed welfare, but the liberals haven't given up. At every turn, they try to substitute government largesse for individual responsibility. They fight to strip work requirements from welfare, to put more people on Medicaid, and to remove more and more people from having to pay any income tax whatsoever. Dependency is death to initiative, risk-taking and opportunity. Dependency is a culture-killing drug. We have got to fight it like the poison it is.

"The attack on faith and religion is no less relentless. And tolerance for pornography – even celebration of it – and sexual promiscuity, combined with the twisted incentives of government welfare programs have led to today's grim realities: 68% of African American children are born out-of-wedlock, 45% of Hispanic children, and 25% of White children. How much harder it is for these children to succeed in school and in life. A nation built on the principles of the Founding Fathers cannot long stand when its children are raised without fathers in the home.

"The development of a child is enhanced by having a mother and father. Such a family is the ideal for the future of the child and for the strength of a nation. I wonder how it is that unelected judges, like some in my state of Massachusetts, are so unaware of this reality, so oblivious to the millennia of recorded history. It is time for the people of America to fortify marriage through Constitutional amendment, so that liberal judges cannot continue to attack it.

"Europe is facing a demographic disaster. That is the inevitable product of weakened faith in the Creator, failed families, disrespect for the sanctity of human life and eroded morality. Some reason that culture is merely an accessory to America's vitality; we know that it is the source of our strength. And we are not dissuaded by the snickers and knowing glances when we stand up for family values, and morality, and culture. We will always be honored to stand on principle and to stand for principle.

"The attack on our culture is not our sole challenge. We face economic competition unlike anything we have ever known before. China and Asia are emerging from centuries of poverty. Their people are plentiful, innovative and ambitious. If we do not change course, Asia or China will pass us by as the economic superpower, just as we passed England and France during the last century. The prosperity and security of our children and grandchildren depend on us.

"Our prosperity and security also depend on finally acting to become energy secure. Oil producing states like Russia and Venezuela, Saudi Arabia and Iran are siphoning over $400 billion per year from our economy – that's almost what we spend annually for defense. It is past time for us to invest in energy technology, nuclear power, clean coal, liquid coal, renewable sources and energy efficiency. America must never be held hostage by the likes of Putin, Chavez, and Ahmadinejad.

"And our economy is also burdened by the inexorable ramping of government spending. Don't focus on the pork alone – even though it is indeed irritating and shameful. Look at the entitlements. They make up 60% of federal spending today. By the end of the next President's second term, they will total 70%. Any conservative plan for the future has to include entitlement reform that solves the problem, not just acknowledges it.

"
Most politicians don't seem to understand the connection between our ability to compete and our national wealth, and the wealth of our families. They act as if money just happens – that it's just there. But every dollar represents a good or service produced in the private sector. Depress the private sector and you depress the well-being of Americans.

"That's exactly what happens with high taxes, over-regulation, tort windfalls, mandates, and overfed, over-spending government. Did you see that today, government workers make more money than people who work in the private sector? Can you imagine what happens to an economy where the best opportunities are for bureaucrats?

"It's high time to lower taxes, including corporate taxes, to take a weed-whacker to government regulations, to reform entitlements, and to stand up to the increasingly voracious appetite of the unions in our government.

"And finally, let's consider the greatest challenge facing America – and facing the entire civilized world: the threat of violent, radical Jihad. In one wing of the world of Islam, there is a conviction that all governments should be destroyed and replaced by a religious caliphate. These Jihadists will battle any form of democracy. To them, democracy is blasphemous for it says that citizens, not God shape the law. They find the idea of human equality to be offensive. They hate everything we believe about freedom just as we hate everything they believe about radical Jihad.

"To battle this threat, we have sent the most courageous and brave soldiers in the world. But their numbers have been depleted by the Clinton years when troops were reduced by 500,000, when 80 ships were retired from the Navy, and when our human intelligence was slashed by 25%.

We were told that we were getting a peace dividend. We got the dividend, but we didn't get the peace. In the face of evil in radical Jihad and given the inevitable military ambitions of China, we must act to rebuild our military might – raise military spending to 4% of our GDP, purchase the most modern armament, re-shape our fighting forces for the asymmetric demands we now face, and give the veterans the care they deserve.

"Soon, the face of liberalism in America will have a new name. Whether it is Barack or Hillary, the result would be the same if they were to win the Presidency. The opponents of American culture would push the throttle, devising new justifications for judges to depart from the Constitution. Economic neophytes would layer heavier and heavier burdens on employers and families, slowing our economy and opening the way for foreign competition to further erode our lead.

"Even though we face an uphill fight, I know that many in this room are fully behind my campaign. You are with me all the way to the convention. Fight on, just like Ronald Reagan did in 1976. But there is an important difference from 1976: today, we are a nation at war.

"And Barack and Hillary have made their intentions clear regarding Iraq and the war on terror. They would retreat and declare defeat. And the consequence of that would be devastating. It would mean attacks on America, launched from safe havens that make Afghanistan under the Taliban look like child's play. About this, I have no doubt.

"I disagree with Senator McCain on a number of issues, as you know. But I agree with him on doing whatever it takes to be successful in Iraq, on finding and executing Osama bin Laden, and on eliminating Al Qaeda and terror.

If I fight on in my campaign all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win. And in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign, be a part of aiding a surrender to terror.

"This is not an easy decision for me. I hate to lose. My family, my friends and our supporters – many of you right here in this room – have given a great deal to get me where I have a shot at becoming President. If this were only about me, I would go on. But I entered this race because I love America, and because I love America, I feel I must now stand aside, for our party and for our country.

"I will continue to stand for conservative principles. I will fight alongside you for all the things we believe in. And one of those things is that we cannot allow the next President of the United States to retreat in the face evil extremism.

"It is the common task of each generation – and the burden of liberty – to preserve this country, expand its freedoms and renew its spirit so that its noble past is prologue to its glorious future.

"To this task, accepting this burden, we are all dedicated, and I firmly believe, by the providence of the Almighty, that we will succeed beyond our fondest hope. America must remain, as it has always been, the hope of the Earth.

"Thank you, and God bless America."

We have a leader...

Competition is a familiar part of the American way. In the midst of the competition hearts throb, pulses race, and emotions run raw. In short, the process of reaching the end of the game is what we're really there for!

The end of any competition results in disappointment for some, and jubilation for others. But we all go home AMERICANS!

Today, with Mitt Romney's noble offer to unite the party in a time of war, WE HAVE A LEADER.

I think it is incumbent on all conservatives to put the competition behind and to unite behind our nominee.

I think it is incumbent on Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul to disengage. The game is over!

Any further fighting among Republicans needlessly draws energy, money, and time away from the real battle, the fight to defeat the Democratic nominee. We must do everything we can to prevent our great nation from slipping further into socialism and technological and military weakness.

I still think Dr. Romney is much better prepared to take on the Democrats and be leader of the free world. But McCain's our nominee. I now think that if McCain would make Romney his running mate very soon it would be a party uniter and a winning ticket in November.

I'm not going to start fighting valiantly for John McCain. But I am going to continue fighting for the conservative values and principles that I believe are the strength of America. And right now John McCain is walking the best path we have to reach the goal of maintaining those strengths.

Unite the party, fight for AMERICA!

A man for the season.

For me it was a sad but proud moment when Mitt Romney announced that he is suspending his presidential campaign.

Sad because I continue to believe that Romney is far and away the best qualified candidate for the nomination and the presidency. John McCain is where he is primarily because he was the media's darling and the conservative vote was split between Romney and Mike Huckabee.

And proud because Romney's expressed motive for dropping out is to unite the party  in a time of war.

When a spokesperson announced soon after Romney's speech at CPAC that Huckabee is going to prolong the GOP split, I felt anger!

Huckabee's support was only in the states where there is a strong evangelical presence. And those states are already counted. Huckabee even lost to Ron Paul in five states; he has no chance of getting the nomination.

So why not wrap it up now and get down to the serious business of rallying Republicans against the Democrats who would raise taxes and leave our country unsafe from the terrrorists?

Maybe it's not over for Romney yet. Providence has a way of finding the right person for the season. Conservatives need a champion. I believe we were offered one.

We'll see what happens...

A possible solution for conservatives.

I think it's a given that unless Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney make a deal to defeat John McCain, or hot tempered McCain makes an unforgiveable public blunder, that McCain will be the Republican nominee.

I also think that it would be very difficult for McCain to beat Hillary or Obama in the general election. He doesn't have the temperament or the grassroots backing of GOP conservatives. That may be why he's the temporary darling of liberals and the media - he's the right's weakest link!

I think, unless he chooses an excellent conservative running mate, that many conservatives will give up and stay home if McCain is their party's flag bearer. The election would be a sweep for the Democrats. Liberal judges would be appointed, our technological and military strength would be weakened, taxes would be raised, and families would suffer as ACLU/Moveon elitists force their arrogant socialist notions on Americans.

For all it's worth, below is the way I see it.

Even if he backs McCain against Romney, if McCain cannot win the general election against the far better backed Democrat nominee, Huckabee and his supporters get nothing.

Huckabee should know that, his religious base should know that, and they should know that America is at a crossroads with the momentum leaning heavily towards the left.

I believe that it is essential to conservative Americans that Romney and Huckabee make an alliance to defeat McCain, or that one of them do the right thing for America and drop out of the race to give the other a chance at the nomination.

Romney and Huckabee are both good-living family men who could represent the conservative god-fearing cause. The question for conservatives is:

Which candidate is best qualified and most likely to beat McCain and the Democrats?

Here are a few reasons why I am personally swayed towards Romney:

- He already has more delegates than Huckabee and won more states than Huckabee did.

- Much of Huckabee's support came from his religious base. Most of the strong evangelical states have already been counted.

- Conservatives are coalescing behind Governor Romney. Nationally he won conservatives by double digits over McCain. Huckabee underperformed in every state that didn't have a strong base of evangelicals, even losing to Ron Paul in five of those states.

- The remaining primary and caucus states are much stronger for Romney than for Huckabee.

I understand religious fervor and allegiance to church leaders. But we're electing the leader of the highest TEMPORAL office in the free world, not a pastor. Which of the two candidates would you choose to support if each of them was a Methodist?

Dr. Romney graduated among the top 5% of his class at the prestigious Harvard Business and Law Schools. Only Romney and 14 other of his 550 cream-of-the-cream Harvard classmates got their Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in the combined MBA/JD program. He's extremely bright and has the proven experience, the knowledge, and the WILL to take on the insider Washington politician/lawyers.

It's more important to know how America works than how Washington works. Dr. Romney knows how America works, he had his hands on its economic pulse for 25 years!

Romney took only one dollar as salary for turning around the Olympics. He took no salary for his service as a state Governor.  He voluntarily served thousands of hours helping members of the church he has chosen to affiliate with.

Compare Governor Romney's brilliant intellect, his record of selfless service to others, and his incredible achievements in finance,  business, and government with John McCain's graduation at the bottom 5% of his military class, his one time leadership experience as commander of one military base for one year, his dismal "maverick" performance as a senator, his hair-trigger temper, his arrogance towards conservatives, and his lifelong reliance on the public purse for his livelihood.

It's plain to me that Dr. Romney is by far the best qualified candidate for president of the United States. But it's a fact that the split conservative vote has thrust McCain into a very commanding lead.

I wonder if a possible solution would be for McCain to very soon announce that Mitt Romney is his running mate? That might appease Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity etc., and could possibly rally the Republican party and give us a chance in the general election.

What do we do now?

Super Tuesday is over and it seems to me that conservatives and the GOP are in deep trouble now. The vote was split between Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney at a crucial time and John McCain slipped into an undeserved commanding lead that will be very difficult to reverse.

It's highly doubtful that McCain will be able to unite the party unless he chooses a strong well-known conservative to run with him. And there's little chance that he will be able to successfully debate either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. He just doesn't have the temperament or the whole-hearted groundswell support of conservative Republicans.

Even if he had a hope of winning in November, McCain probably owes too many favors to his insider colleagues to be able to make meaningful conservative change in Washington.

And when did loyalty to his party mean anything to McCain anyway?

The only hope at this time seems to be if Romney and Huckabee make an alliance with one lending his support to the other. Romney has more delegates and won more states than Huckabee did last night. But it's highly unlikely that Huckabee is enough of a statesman to back down in the interests of conservatives.

I am personally swayed towards Mitt Romney. He's the only one with the intellect, the experience, and the means to defeat the left leaning Clintons and Obama Kennedys and bring real conservative change to Washington.

I believe that the media will turn against McCain once the nomination is finalized. He's only their darling for a time because he's the right's weakest link. He has 25 years of dubious political and personal garbage for reporters to gleefully hang out when the time is right.

Maybe before the nomination is closed McCain will pull a public blunder that the media just can't ignore, and the word will get out to the people - ALL the people - that he's just not presidential material.

God bless America.

The insider fix is in.

John McCain's arrogant confidence that he'll win the Republican nomination may be exactly what's needed to energize grassroots conservatives and get the word out that McCain's not the man the media's portraying.

The insider fix is in there's no doubt about it: fool the people, make McCain the GOP nominee, and Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton becomes president, pretty much guaranteed...

The TRUTH about each candidate should be reported by the media, not "news" created according to an agenda. Otherwise the American electorate cannot cast an informed vote. What the liberal dominated media is doing is irresponsibly and unethically trying to manipulate the election for their favored darlings.

For example, the media's not reporting things like the following:

Dr. Romney graduated among the top 5% of his class at the prestigious Harvard Business and Law Schools. Only 15 out of 550 cream-of-the-cream Harvard Law School students in the extremely rigorous MBA/JD program graduated. Romney was one of the 15.

Romney took only one dollar as salary for turning around the Olympics. He took no salary at all for his service as a state governor. And as an unpaid lay minister he put in probably thousands of hours voluntarily serving members of his church.

Compare Governor Romney's brilliant intellect, his record of selfless service to others, and his incredible achievements in finance,  business, and government with McCain's graduation at the bottom 5% of his military class, his dismal "maverick" performance as a senator, his one time service as commander of one military base for one year, his age and quick temper, and his lifelong reliance on the public purse for his livelihood.

How can McCain successfully debate Obama who too is a Harvard grad?

McCain is way over his head. He'd get beat each time as badly as Romney clobbered him in the California debate. That's why McCain is endorsed by the New York Times and so many liberals - he can't compete with the Democrat challenger. It's a cunning setup for the Democrats!

Decide for yourself who's best prepared to be leader of the free world. As for me I'll vote for Mitt Romney...

Bashing the Mormons - splitting the vote.

Could some paid pastors and ministers of religion be telling lies because they fear loss of personal income or loss of authority, or have been trained in the same theology schools to disdain and attack the members and beliefs of certain other churches?

Because of the constitutional right of Americans to demand the separation of church and state, there should be very little if any discussion about the specific doctrines of the church the presidential candidates have chosen to join - it's just not a valid issue.

However, because of the enmity some evangelical pastors seem to have for the Mormons, and the fervency some of their followers publicly display, religion has become such an issue that it seems possible that the conservative god-fearing grassroots people of America will not be represented in the Whitehouse because the conservative vote is being split.

My wife's brother is an ordained minister of religion. He says he was taught about the Mormons (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints "LDS") from the same sources most other evangelical theology students are taught.

He was not taught from official LDS media or representatives who know the truth about their own church and beliefs. Instead he was exposed to books, videos, pamphlets, etc. distributed by what has become a lucrative Mormon-bashing industry.

Of course, he relies upon those who trained him, and passes along what he thinks is true about the Mormons to those he preaches to.

Here's my take on it, for all it's worth:

Disagreements about points of religious doctrine will probably always exist. Those discussions should not be part of the process of electing the most qualified person to the highest temporal office in our nation.

In my opinion the possibly well-meaning individuals with a seeming hatred for the Latter-day Saints have written so much supposedly in favor of Huckabee that they've greatly reduced that man's national electability. Americans don't want to be ruled by an extreme religious leader - that's what our international enemies are trying to impose on the world!

I think it's logical to conclude that the best qualified sources of information about their own beliefs and practices are the official media of any organization. Why should a sincere truth seeker look to the Baptists or Catholics or to their biased pastors and priests for information about the Mormons, or vice versa?

Here's the official LDS stand on politics:

"The Church does not:

- Endorse, promote or oppose political parties, candidates or platforms.

- Allow its church buildings, membership lists or other resources to be used for partisan political purposes.

- Attempt to direct its members as to which candidate or party they should give their votes to. This policy applies whether or not a candidate for office is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

- Attempt to direct or dictate to a government leader."

Further, the LDS "Articles of Faith" which is part of their canon, includes the statement:

"We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law."

In their temples, Mormons make covenants with God that they will actually abide by the things contained in their articles of faith.

That may not be what some paid pastors are teaching, but that's what Mormons believe. Generally, it has been observed that the Latter-day Saints quietly go about doing the humanitarian and other good works that Jesus taught is the way his followers should walk and talk all their mortal lives.

For those sincere Christians who think their pastors should be focusing on teaching them more about their own church doctrine and how to live kinder, happier, service-oriented lives, instead of bashing the members of other churches, they can learn the truth about the Mormons directly from the Mormons.

A Champion for the People.

MITT ROMNEY - A CHAMPION FOR THE PEOPLE

Some writers are still trying to convince others that Mitt Romney if nominated couldn't compete against the Democratic nominee.

You might be surprised at who the real Mitt Romney is, and the strengths he already has in the political arena having been taught by none other than Senator Ted Kennedy!

THE STUDENT

After graduating from high school, Romney voluntarily served a two and a half year foreign mission for his church, at his own expense. He completed a Bachelor of Arts with Honors at Brigham Young University. At age 24, already having a wife and two children, he was admitted to the prestigious combined Business School MBA and Doctorate of Law (JD) program at Harvard University.

I'll quote from some Romney research I did recently.

My hope is that readers will compare this man Mitt Romney with John McCain who ranked in the bottom 5% of his military college class but nonetheless was once allowed to command one military base for one year.

Today McCain proudly claims to be the great American "leader" and says that Romney is only a "manager." (Are you scratching your head at the media and McCain's endorsements already? If not, perhaps you will...)

Here's a quote from a Boston newspaper:

"Harvard's joint MBA/JD program was relatively new at the time - it had been launched two years earlier - and was intensely rigorous. Typically, business school is completed in two years and law school in three; dual-degree students earn both degrees in four years, spending their first year at one of the schools, their second at the other, and their final two shuttling between both.

Harvard Business School immersed Romney in a complementary skill set: creative thinking, leadership, teamwork, and the ability to analyze and reconcile conflicting data and differing points of view.

Out of Romney's 800 business school classmates and 550 law school classmates, only 15 earned degrees through the dual program.

Romney excelled at both schools, graduating with honors from the law school; becoming a Baker Scholar at the business school, a distinction reserved for the top 5 percent of the class; and impressing many of his peers with his quick mind and skill at building consensus.

THE SERVICE ORIENTED BUSINESSMAN

When Romney graduated from Harvard in 1975, armed with twin powerhouse degrees from one of the world's most prestigious universities, consulting firms and investment banks around the country vied aggressively to hire him.

"He was an outstanding recruit with exceptional grades, and he was the very charming, smooth, attractive son of a former presidential candidate," recalled Charles W. Faris, formerly with Boston Consulting Group, one of the firms that competed for Romney. "It would be hard to find a higher profile resume ... so everybody was bending over backward to get their hands on him."

Who do you think is best prepared of all the presidential candidates to analyze data from dozens of experts and make sound executive decisions that will affect hundreds of millions of people worldwide?

After his years at Harvard, Romney plunged into the world of capitalist free enterprise where the bottom line is to generate a return for investors. In that 25 year period of intense experience in business and finance Romney proved his brilliance as a leader of people and enterprises. In fact he was so good in the economic world that he generated a personal fortune of about $250,000,000!

(That's real good - this man knows what makes the economy  tick, and what needs to be done to create jobs for Americans without undue government interference and huge tax raises on the people.)

Along the way Romney continued to be a faithful family man adhering strictly to his religious beliefs including no alcohol, no tobacco, no adultery, etc. He served in responsible positions with his church, leading and helping thousands of people. As a volunteer lay minister he provided that service free of charge.

The governor of Utah asked Romney to step in as CEO of the failing Salt Lake City Winter Olympics committee. Some people say that Romney already had his eye on political office and took too much credit to himself. But whatever, he applied his brilliant intellect, talents, and expertise to turn that scandal-plagued venture into a huge success.

Romney, ever service-oriented, asked for only one dollar as his salary for doing that.

Here's a quote from a Boston newspaper:

''I have no doubt whatsoever, as the representative of the chief investor in the Salt Lake City Olympics, that Mitt Romney was single-handedly responsible for those Games being the immense success they were,'' said Dick Ebersol, chairman of NBC Universal Sports & Olympics. "The list of people who could have pulled it off began and ended with Mitt Romney.''

THE POLITICIAN

In 1994 Romney ran against Ted Kennedy for senator. He lost against that powerful experienced politician, but he says he learned from Kennedy how to handle himself in the political arena. We can see that and his always presidential bearing and demeanor on our television screens today.

Romney ran for and became the Governor of Massachusetts. Much has been said about that term of service, but I'll believe Mitt and the stats about his record as governor, not Senator McCain hot on the campaign trail.

Romney took no salary at all for his public service as a state governor.

Compare Romney's record to that of John McCain who proudly declares that he has lived on the public purse all his life. Contrary to what some long-time politicians would have us believe, public "service" is really just a paid job one chooses to make a living at.

I'm grateful for McCain's service in the military, but happening to be captured by the enemy as thousands of others have been in times of war is no qualification to be president of the United States. Romney is independently wealthy, he does not have to serve in public office...

As well as being politician and state governor, Romney has been a hard-nosed eminently successful businessman with a brilliant record for making the right executive decisions in a highly competitive environment, time after time.

During the highly unpopular Vietnam war, the military draft lottery never pointed to Romney. (He was deferred as a university student anyway - as were all other students at that time.)

But as governor, Romney was the leader of the entire national guard in his state. (Surely a more responsible leadership position than the one John McCain boasts of.) Romney has the experience, training, and intellect to gather reliable military, foreign affairs and other experts about him, to sort through their advice and data, and to make the right executive decisions to protect this nation and its people.

Mitt Romney is uniquely qualified to make a real difference for America. He's an expert outsider who owes no political favors in Washington. He loves a challenge capable of his intellect. (Dr. Romney was one of only 15 out of 550 Harvard Law School students to graduate with a doctorate!)

FIXING BROKEN WASHINGTON

Romney says:

"I THINK IT'S TIME FOR THE POLITICIANS TO LEAVE WASHINGTON, AND FOR THE CITIZENS TO TAKE OVER."

Americans who want solid conservative change in Washington are fortunate indeed to have such a CHAMPION FOR THE PEOPLE as Mitt Romney could be.

But he needs our support quickly to get the truth out about him, and why he's running for office.

And Romney's putting his own money where his mouth is to help get the conservative message out! (About 40 million dollars already.)

The weak response of some Romney detractors is that he is trying to "buy" the presidency. Isn't it just as logical to conclude that he is demonstrating his COMMITMENT to serve America, and his CAPACITY TO WIN the general election?

Like everyone else, Dr. Romney has learned and made changes with time and experience. None of us are the same today as we were yesterday.

WHAT HE STANDS FOR

Today Mitt Romney is solidly for:

- beefing up the military

- research to maintain American technological superiority

- lower taxes

- less government

- fixing the economy

- jobs for Americans

- justices and judges who do not legislate

- winning the war against terrorists and keeping us safe

- sealing our borders and stopping illegal immigration

- the right of citizens to have and to bear arms

- religious freedom

 -traditional marriage

- the family values cherished by conservative Americans.

 A CHAMPION FOR THE PEOPLE

A successful grassroots revolt against the Washington insiders is possible this year - WE HAVE A CHAMPION!

I think we should give him a chance...

It is my hope that the unfounded attacks on Romney's motivation, and the fear-filled naysayers, will be completely ignored.

We CAN win this nomination, and the November election. Romney could prove to be the man the world needs at this hour, as Ronald Reagan proved to be the man for his time.

WHAT GRASSROOTS CONSERVATIVES NEED TO DO TODAY

The choice is ours, the grassroots electorate of America. But the message must get out there real soon. (Ordinary people taking the initiative to do what they uniquely can, and the exponential power of the world wide web could do it.)

Vote Mitt Romney for President, he's the people's CHAMPION in this period of time when we surely need one.

Donate what you can to show your commitment to our new president in this his hour of need for quick help from the grassroots.

And most of all, spread the message...
